Jim Shannon

Jim Shannon's approach to music and the guitar is unique because of his experience in both jazz and classical music. His guitar playing also has the components of blues and contemporary music, while retaining a style that is both lyrical and romantic. The combination of these musical elements make Jim one of the most creative and versatile of guitarists.

Trio Alado, the Duo, ((flute & guitar/bass & guitar/piano & guitar)), solo Jazz and Classical guitar or a larger group. Remember that Jim can custom design the group to suit any occasion by adding instruments such as Flute, Sax, Piano, Conga Drums/percussion, vocalist etc.

Some of the events we specialize in are Corporate events, Parties, Wedding Ceremonie and Receptions, Outdoor events, and Concerts from Jazz to Blues to Swing to Classical to Brazilian/Latin.

Jim is Professor of music in Dallas Jr. College School of the Arts where he teaches Jazz and Classical guitar plus Jazz Improvisation. Jim has won several awards for teaching including the Nisod Excellence in teaching award from the University of Texas at Austin and excellence in teaching awards from the Dallas County Community College District.
