Johnny started his music career at a very young age. He was 5 1/2 years old when he set foot on stage at the Louisiana Hayride with such greats as Minnie Pearle, Tex Ritter and Ernest Tubb. Johnny got his name from Ernest Tubb, because he couldn't pronounce Johnny's last name Vizina, so he just called him Johnny Vee. This name stuck with Johnny throughout his whole musical career.
